Tupiza - Uyuni 4D/3N Programme

Day 1: Tupiza-San Antonio de Lipez. After breakfast we depart to San Antonio de Lipez, this trip will take about 5 hours. Lunch on the way. Dinner and accommodation. (L, D)

Day 2: San Antonio de Lipez - Laguna Colorada. Our journey today will take us to the Eduardo Avaroa Andean Fauna Reserve. The first stop will be at the natural hot spring with safe temperatures, here you are welcome to soak for a while. Later visit to the Salvador Dali Rock Desert and Laguna Verde, at the base of the Licancabur Volcano. Around lunch trip continues to Sol de Mañana to visit the geysers and hot mud boiling pools, then reach the spectacular and beautiful Laguna Colorada, where thousands of flamingos can be observed, as well as other such as the Andean Rhea, Vicuña, and also some herds of llamas and alpacas. Salar de Uyuni 13Day 3: Laguna Colorada -San Juan. On the way to leave the Eduardo Avaroa Andean Fauna Reserve, the trip crosses the Siloli Desert where interesting landscape features could be found, such as the Arbol de Piedra (Stone Tree), one of many strange natural monuments carved by the wind and water by millennia. At the end of the Siloli Desert, the road reaches several lagoons, such as Cañapa, Hedionda, Chiarcota, Honda and Ramaditas, where more views of flamingos are possible. Stop at the Paso de León viewpoint to observe the Ollague Volcano. Late in the afternoon, arrival to San Juan. The village has a historical church and cemetery, as well some few pre-Columbian mommies here. (L, D)

Day 4: San Juan – Uyuni´s Salt Lake – Uyuni town. Breakfast and departure to the Uyuni´s Salt Lake, to reach the Isla Incahuasi. The visit to this smaller island will give you the opportunity to hike among giant cacti and reach the top to see a spectacular 360 degree view of the Uyuni´s Salt Lake. Lunch. The final part of the tour will be a cross to the eastern part of the salt lake, to the Colchani Village. On the way, you will see the first hotel made entirely from salt blocks, which is now a small museum. You will have the opportunity to learn more about the geological history of the salt lake and see some interesting features such as the Ojos de Sal (or salt eyes) where ice cold healing water bubbles through the salt. Also will see how locals from Colchani shovel, dry, extract, and load tons of salt to be transferred to their local plants near the salt lake. Final drive to Uyuni. (B, L)
